Powered by CO is a sustainable real estate, green space developer and construction company with a mission. We show that homes and communities, commercial spaces, and industrial areas can be designed, built and developed in both a beautiful and sustainable way.

The Powered by CO organisation consists of four departments: development, construction, production of structural panels, and real estate sales and services. At Powered by CO, we have deliberately chosen to set up the entire value chain to ensure we manage the quality and creation of our products and services in the most sustainable way.

The team

Their philosophical commitment is to lifestyles which consider energy efficient design, embodied energy assessment, restoration of land and materials, preserving native and natural areas, regenerating and consolidating the work done on land, housing and property.

As well as real estate and property development, they undertake projects which demonstrate their philosophy and provide services to assist others in their quest to change how we live in the world and understand the resources we use.

Karin Sligting
CEO

Initiator of a portfolio of businesses both in the Netherlands and in Portugal, Karin is a driven manager with a strong passion for her work, making the world a more vibrant, beautiful place. Karin has decades of experience running companies and organizations both within the creative and sustainability sector. At Powered by CO, Karin runs business operations focusing on administrative and legal matters. After more than 15 years in Portugal, Karin has solid knowledge of the Portuguese language and culture, along with its rules and regulations.

Dave Hemminga
Founder & Creative Director

As a creative and visionary manager, Dave is always on the look-out for inspiring projects that make this world a bit better and greener. Formerly a sound engineer working with companies like Apple and advertising agencies, Dave later turned his creative energy and focus into sustainable building and community development in Portugal. Dave is passionate about creating beautiful and ecologically-sound homes where residents can feel a connection to community and the natural environment. With a solid knowledge of the Algarve and sustainable building techniques, Dave heads Powered by CO as Creative Director.

William van Beuningen
CFO

With over 15 years of experience in real estate finance and development, William manages the financial aspects at Powered by CO. He is passionate about the enormous potential of sustainable building methods, and uses his financial knowledge in combination with a strong network to drive the company forward.

Jorge Lira
Technical Advisor, In-house Architect

Since 1992, Jorge has been working as an architect and entrepreneur, with a passion for eco-construction methods especially designing and building using wood. With both a technical and creative approach, Jorge has led and participated in a large array of building projects and international research programs in energy conservation and sustainable construction. At Powered by CO, Jorge tackles technical questions regarding engineering, design, and construction.

Kate King
Sustainability Coordinator and Project Manager

Passionate and pragmatic environmentalist with more than a decade of international experience in infrastructure planning and construction with a focus on sustainability. With her strategic planning and operational skills, Kate´s role at Powered by CO includes business operations, project planning and communications, as well as research and direction on all things related to sustainability. Big believer in community building, as well regenerative and forward-thinking solutions for how to live well on this earth.

Jimmy Bakker
Sales and Project Manager

With over 20 years of experience as a project manager, Jimmy turns creative ideas into feasible plans and sees them into fruition. With strong communication skills and a good sense of humor, Jimmy enjoys addressing challenges at hand and working in dynamic environments. At Powered by CO, Jimmy works with sales as well as operational project management. Jimmy lives by the motto ‘wishful thinking, wishful doing’ and believes strongly in the power of having a solution-oriented and positive mindset.

Pauline Brouwer
Controller, Finance

Pauline joined our team in mid-September and will support the team with financial and business strategy. Passionate and curious about the challenges brought by start-ups and scale-ups, she spent the last years working on various projects from financial and operational optimization to commercial strategy, with different companies in Sydney, Amsterdam and Paris. We are delighted to have Pauline on board with her specialized expertise and positive energy!
